My name is Shirantha Beddage. I’m a faculty member in the Bachelor of Music program and a Teaching and Learning Support secondee for the 2019/20 academic year. I’d like to share two examples of engaging Blackboard videos that I’ve created using Panopto.
One of the best things about Panopto is its ability to create a quick “screencast” video (ie. computer screen plus narration) with little to no editing. I used this in my Music Theory class last semester to demonstrate the parameters for a capstone project using Sibelius music notation software.
If you want to get to know Panopto, try making a short course introduction video; it’s a great way to “break the ice” with your students, and it will help you learn how to integrate Panopto with Blackboard. You can even record the video on your phone using the Panopto mobile app!
In the video playlist below, I walk you through the entire process: recording, uploading, captioning and embedding a course intro video into Blackboard, using one of my Music Theory classes as an example.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Humber’s Panopto Support team.
