Update: We have confirmed that if you are entering the Panopto portal from the course sidebar while in Student Preview Mode on a course that is currently unavailable to students, Panopto will deny access to the Student Preview user, resulting in a “Error retrieving Panopto course” message. This is the intended behaviour of the Panopto plugin for Blackboard.

Update: We have isolated the impact of this perceived issue to the Student Preview mode. We are pleased to confirm that students are not impacted by this error. We suspect that the error is only being produced in Student Preview mode in courses that are unavailable to students via date restriction. We are investigating and confirming this behaviour with Panopto.

Active Issue: Select users are seeing an “Error retrieving Panopto course” message when attempting to load Panopto in Blackboard while in Student Preview mode. We are actively investigating the issue and determining the impact with Panopto Support.
Workaround: Exit Student Preview mode when loading the Panopto portal within Blackboard. If the issue persists, login to Panopto directly, sign out, and browse your course without student student mode activated.
